Shetland Explorer Tours
Shetland History & Nature
Step back in time with a visit to the Old Scatness Broch & Iron Age Village. Dating back to between 400BC and 200BC, the broch and surrounding village were later used and modified by Pictish people and later by Vikings. You will also take in lots of beautiful scenery as well as meeting some friendly Shetland ponies.
On this tour you will see some of the most spectacular scenery in the South Mainland of Shetland. We are lucky in Shetland to have an array of wildlife on our doorstep, and we would love for you to experience meeting Shetland ponies and spotting seals on this tour. Our experienced guides will be able to talk you through some of the history of Shetland, and explain how we live today. A qualified archaeologist will guide you through the ages at the Old Scatness Broch and Iron Age Village. Your guide will also be happy to point out some of the locations from the ‘Shetland’ TV drama, for any fans! You will end your trip with a spot of lunch before heading back to Lerwick.
